Now hordes of people have taken to social media to slate the "appalling" service, claiming their Mother's Day celebrations were ruined by these companies.
Wendy Watts tweeted Marks and Spencer saying: "Still waiting for my flowers MD. Daughter upset in USA I did not thanked her, I thought she forgot! Poor service. "
Another person said: "Absolutely appalled at your service! Ordered flowers on 12/3 for delivery today and never arrived-Disgusted! "
And a third wrote: "Thanks for making my mum think I do not care!"Debenhams also faced the wrath of sons and daughters up and down the country - also being savagely for their "useless" customer service department.
One woman rang customer service advisers on Saturday, and today it was told a manager would call her back - only to wait all day and find the call never came.
Lucy McGuiness tweeted: "Thanks to the incompetence of @DPD_UK we mum never got her Debenhams flower today. I am SO UPSET. "
Kathryn Machray said: "@Debenhams dont bother to deliver #mothersday flowers on Fri, Sat or Sun. Apparently they canceled my order but I was not notified #useless "
She also added: "Flowers for both my mum and grannie were no show. Meant to arrive Friday. Customer services useless. Expect much better. "
Charlotte Davies said: "@Debenhams still no refund and only 2 half dead bunches delivered and 1 have not turned up at all! No call back as promised either! "
Other companies were also accused of failing customers, with hundreds of unhappy friends posting on social media.
One said: "@MoonpigUK gotta say, the Mother's Day flowers I ordered from you, looked nothing like what you advertised. Will not buy from you next year !!! "
Another said: "@prestigeflowers waiting for a satisfactory response - Mother's Day flowers dispatched on 24th.
One person posted: "Surprise surprise can not get through to @Waitrose customer service after they cocked up everyone's Mother's Day flowers yesterday. On hold .. "
And many warned against using such services in the future.
A Marks and Spencer spokeswoman said: "Our Mother's Day flowers are extremely popular and we pride ourselves on quality and service.
"We are disappointed if anyone feels let down and encourage them to contact our customer service team."
Debenhams has also been contacted for comment.
In a statement Moonpig said: "We promise to deliver between 8am until 9pm, and as of 2pm had made 90 per cent of all deliveries.
We take the quality of our products extremely seriously, launching a Freshness Promise this year, and apologize to any customers that have had issues.
"In the rare event that things go wrong we ask you to get in touch with our customer service teams via flowers@moonpig.com where we will do everything we can to remedy the situation."
